AI Will Never Be Your Differentiator
Jun 13, 2024I’m sorry, but it’s true. AI will never be a true differentiator for agencies.
I’ll explain why...
We went from hearing that AI is advancing in the news – and thinking nothing of it...
To having a friend or colleague make us try ChatGPT for the first time and being blown away...
To every company on Earth suddenly claiming (on their homepage) that they’re in some way “powered by AI.”
Even though, in most cases, it was just marketing bullshit.
So now... AI has become nothing more than a table stake.
If you’re not using it – what the hell are you doing?
And therefore - nobody is impressed that you’re using AI.
That’s how fast it has happened.
ChatGPT is the fastest-adopted consumer application of all time.
It reached 100 million users within two months.
Let’s compare that with how long it took other platforms to reach 100 million users...
- TikTok: 9 months
- Instagram: 30 months
- WhatsApp: 42 months
- Facebook: 54 months
- YouTube: 88 months
- ChatGPT... 2 months!
And because every company on Earth immediately jumped on the “we use AI” train, the value of proclaiming AI as a differentiator went from extremely high to extremely low in a very short period of time.
And now – nobody is impressed that you’re using AI.
Nobody really cares anymore.
That’s how fast it has happened.
Holding up your use of AI as if it makes you different is already comparable to saying, “We use the internet here in our business,” as if that’s in some way special.
We’re already there.
So, the bottom line is this...
If you’re not using it by now, you're not doing so hot.
Yes – continue to master AI and make it part of your business operations.
But the act of using it – doesn’t make you special.
Not anymore.
So don’t boast about how using AI... because nobody cares anymore.
You'll need to find other ways to differentiate yourself ;)
